What Is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is the study of how the body moves and how our muscles, joints, and nervous system work together. In a practical sense, kinesiology is often used as a holistic therapy that looks at the connection between the body, mind, and emotions. Kinesiologists use gentle muscle testing to identify areas of stress or imbalance in the body and then use different techniques to help restore balance.


People may see a kinesiologist for support with:

Meet Sharlene

Hi, I’m Sharlene, and welcome to my page!

I always like to know a little about the practitioners I’m working with before I dive in, so I thought I’d share a little about myself.


I’ve always had a passion for health, fitness, and wellbeing. Before becoming a kinesiologist, I worked as a personal trainer for over 10 years and completed Level 1 in Health and Wellness Coaching. Supporting people to feel their best has always been something I’ve loved.


Throughout my own journey, kinesiology became an invaluable part of my life. It helped me navigate some of life’s more challenging seasons while also supporting me to achieve personal goals, build resilience, and continue growing. I found myself constantly telling friends, family, and clients just how amazing kinesiology is. Even now, I’m still blown away by the profound shifts and results it can create. It has become one of my non-negotiables for maintaining my own health and wellbeing and is a tool I continue to rely on through all of life’s ups and downs.


Experiencing those benefits firsthand inspired me to take the leap and pursue kinesiology professionally. I’m passionate about continuing to learn and grow, and I’m currently deepening my knowledge by studying a Diploma in Energetic Psychology through PKP, allowing me to better support my clients with an integrated and holistic approach.


My approach is warm, compassionate, and client-centred. I believe in creating a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes towards greater balance, clarity, and wellbeing.

    Outside of the clinic, I’m a proud mum of three and love spending time at the beach and enjoying the outdoors with my family. Three years ago, my husband, children, and I moved to the Central Coast, and we’ve absolutely fallen in love with the relaxed lifestyle and beautiful community here.

  • How does kinesiology work?

    Kinesiologists use gentle muscle testing to access information from the body's nervous system. This helps identify areas of stress or imbalance, allowing techniques to be used that support the body's natural ability to restore balance and wellbeing.

  • What can kinesiology help with?

    Kinesiology may assist with stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low confidence, fatigue, sleep issues, motivation, mindset challenges, and feeling "stuck" in certain areas of life. Every session is tailored to your individual needs.

  • What happens during a kinesiology session?

    Your session will begin with a discussion about your goals or concerns. Muscle monitoring is then used to identify priorities for your body, and a range of gentle techniques may be applied to help restore balance. Sessions are relaxing, non-invasive, and fully clothed.

  • Is kinesiology suitable for children and teenagers?

    Yes. Kinesiology can be adapted for people of all ages and may help children and teenagers navigate emotional, social, academic, and confidence-related challenges in a supportive and gentle way.

  • How many sessions will I need?

    The number of sessions varies from person to person. Some people notice positive shifts after one session, while others benefit from ongoing support depending on their goals and circumstances. We always recommend a minimum of 3 sessions.

  • Disclaimer for Consults and Sessions

    All sessions and consultations provided by SM Kinesiology are conducted with the highest ethical standards and a commitment to the wellbeing of each client.


    By purchasing and attending a session, you acknowledge that any information, guidance, or recommendations provided are intended to support your health and wellbeing and are offered in your best interests. However, kinesiology services do not replace the advice, diagnosis, or treatment provided by a qualified medical practitioner or other registered healthcare professional.


    Clients are encouraged to seek appropriate medical advice from their doctor or other qualified healthcare professionals regarding any concerns about their health, symptoms, medications, or treatment plans. Maintaining communication with your healthcare team is recommended at all times.

  • What is your refund and cancellation policy?

    Payment is required in full for all completed sessions. Refunds will not be provided once a session has commenced or been completed.


    A refund may be issued if, upon arrival, the practitioner determines that the session cannot proceed due to the client being significantly unwell, presenting a risk to the practitioner, or having a condition that may be contagious or pose a health risk to others.


    A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Clients who provide at least 24 hours notice will be offered the opportunity to reschedule their appointment.


    Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, missed appointments, or failure to attend may result in the forfeiture of any deposit paid and/or a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the session fee.
